We Are Scientists / Rescue Rooms / Nottingham
We Are Scientists are a New York City-based rock band that formed in Berkeley, California, back in 2000 and consists of Chris Cain (Bass & Vocals) Keith Murray (Guitar & Vocals) and Keith Carne (Drums).
Following the excellent support from Coach Party, We Are Scientists bound onto the stage. They rip right into the set with You've Lost Your Shit (from new album “Huffy”) which leads in to Inaction. Their energy is infectious. We Are Scientists have a wide range of sounds across pop, indie and rock and delight the crowd to a wide range of tracks from their entire back catalogue.
They roll effortlessly through crowd favourites Chic Lit, Your Light Has Changed, and No Wait at Five Leaves. These are all well received, but mixed in with these are some new material from 2021’s album “Huffy”. Personal favourites from the new album were Sentimental Education and Bought Myself a Grave. Keith bounds round the stage and has an excellent rapport with the crowd.
The main set finishes with After Hours (from 2008’s Brain Thrust Mastery). After a brief pause, we are treated to four encore tracks; Too Late, This Scene is Dead¸ Bought Myself a Grave which is a personal favourite of mine, and finally we ended on Nice Guys (from 2010’s Barbara).
With excellent support, the show was brilliant, and We Are Scientists showed their special formula remains as infectious live now as ever.

Support was provided by Coach Party an Alternative / Indy band from the Isle of Wight. Not known as a hotbed for indy music, Coach Party might just be the band to break the mould. Comprising of Jess (vocals/bass), Steph (guitars), Joe (guitars) and Guy (drums) they entertained the crowd with their infectious songs with witty lyrics. Sometimes experimental in style, their music is served full of confidence. Tracks drift from gentle and delicate to total experimental chaos (akin to The Murder Capital) with adept ease. A real treat to see, and certainly one to watch !
Coach Party return to Nottingham soon as their kickstart their 2022 tour at The Bodega in Nottingham on 12th January 2022, with support from Swim School. I’m looking forward to that one already !
