RØRY / Rock City / Nottingham

With International Women’s Day yesterday, it felt fitting to be back at Rock City tonight for to catch RØRY on her headline tour, supported by two incredible female fronted bands, Lake Malice and As December Falls.

Opening the show tonight are Lake Malice, founded by Alice Guala and Blake Cornwall and based in Brighton. They describe themselves as "influenced by Japanese Anime in style, and writing about past trauma and real-life experiences."

Lake Malice have already made an impact on the scene, having supported the likes of Enter Shikari, Skindred, Bloodywood, Vukovi, As Everything Unfolds and Vended. They’ve also performed at Download Festival. They released their debut EP “Post-Genesis” released in 2023.

And what an opening act, they delivered a set packed with energy and got the crowd rockin’ right. Alice has a real stage presence and interacts brilliantly with the crowd creating a real impact on the crowd. They nailed it and were the perfect example as to why you should always turn up at doors and catch the support bands – you never know what gems await !

Brilliant stuff.

Next up was a home coming show for Nottingham natives As December Falls. They released their first self-titled album in 2019 and their most recent, third title “Join the Club” in 2023. They also won Best UK Breakthrough Artist at the Heavy Music Awards in 2023.

Having released three singles, Angry Cry, Therapy and For the Plot in late 2024 and early 2025, they are preparing for the release of their fourth album Everything’s on Fire but I’m Fine” which comes out on 8thAugust 2025.

Just like Lake Malice, they came out blazing. The set was a mix of older material, and two of the newer singles Therapy and Angry Cry which slotted into the live set perfectly. Part way through Bethany stopped to interact with a fan at the front holding a sign saying this was their 25th As December Falls show ! Speaking of Bethany, she was pitch perfect all night, and her smiley cheerful enthusiasm and interactions with the audience, keep all of our energy levels high throughout the set.

Finally, after a short break to re-set the stage, it was time for tonight’s headliner RØRY. From Southampton, she has released two EP’s and a. umber of singles both as an artist herself and collaborations. Earlier in 2025 she released her debut album “Restoration” which entered the top ten. RØRY is also known for her social media presence on ADHD

And has written on living with ADHD.

Lake Malice and As December Falls have done a brilliant job at raising the energy level and as RØRY steps out, it finally reaches max and lifts the roof right off the venerable old venue ! RØRY’s energy is infectiousas she gleefully tells us shes turned forty and finally had a top ten hit  to huge cheers. And from the first note to the last, the crowd are hooked.

I’d not seen RØRY before and I was impressed by the mix of styles and sounds. Some tracks are heavy and darker - more intense and imposing songs, but then in a moment it can switch and become emotionally powerful and then switch again, to a higher tempo pop-punk energy burst. It doesn’t matter which element you pick, the crowd are loving all with equal measure !

With a simple but effective stage set up, and some great lighting effects, visually its great too. Bethany from As December Falls comes out for a duet which the home town crowd love.

The performance flies by, driven by the energy from the crowd and its clear RØRY is loving every second of the experience too.

As the set closes the cheers are deafening. RØRY has shown that it’s never too late to achieve your dreams and goals.

And on international Women’s Day weekend, RØRY, Bethany and Alice showed us all just how incredibly talented they are.

A stunning night of energy and emotion.
