The Wildhearts / Rock City / Nottingham

Newcastle hard rockers, the Wildhearts returned to Rock City in Nottingham for a ‘by request’ set-list show on 6 December 2019.

The Wildhearts formed in late 1989, by lead singer and guitarist Ginger after he left the Quireboys. The band's sound is a mixture of hard rock and melodic pop music, with influences as diverse as The Beatles and 1980’s Metallica. The band have achieved several top 20 singles and one top 10 album in Britain. The band have had a chequered career with frequent break-ups and being put on hiatus, but this year they released their first album in 10 years, when Renaissance Man was released in May 2019.

Support was provided by Nottinghamshire’s own Ferocious Dog. Originating from Warsop, Ferocious Dog are a folk punk band who perform headline venue shows and festivals all over the world, developing a large cult following known as the Hell Hounds.

Tony Wright also performed a short 20min acoustic set. The Bradford born former member of Terrorvision and Laika Dog performed a mix of his own solo project material with the classic Terrorvision track ’Alice, What’s the Matter’ thrown in, to the delight of the crowd.
