Nottingham's Embankment plays host to exciting Jubilee Bank Holiday festival !
MEADOWLANDS have announced the final additions to the Gerry Cinnamon headlined all-dayer. Taking place on the Friday (3rd June) of the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, Meadowlands is a brand new festival held at Nottingham’s Victoria Embankment. Across three stages, MEADOWLANDS will play host to some of the nation’s much loved and established live acts alongside some of the hottest bands to emerge over the last year.
The BBC Music Introducing stage is curated by local radio legend Dean Jackson and will see some of the best local talent playing the biggest new music event in the county. Vona Vella, fresh from touring with Tim Burgess and The Libertines, join the line up alongside Marty, the band already turning heads after little more than a year together. Nottingham’s Catmilk will bring their unique brooding folk combined with a hit of nostalgic 90s grunge and, coming over from Sheffield, The Rosadocs are already firm Introducing favourites along with Derby’s Emzae who has crafted a unique style of intricate, homemade pop.
BBC Radio Nottingham’s Dean Jackson says “I am thrilled to curate a BBC Introducing stage at Meadowlands and delighted that the team there are showing support for incredible local musicians to perform alongside rising national artists. Vona Vella and Catmilk are just two of the Nottingham artists who have my national colleagues really excited at present and Merseyside’s Michael Aldag is an exceptional performer found on TikTok with perceptive emotional songs reflecting life in 2022. But there are plenty more; it will be a day to remember with The Embankment the perfect backdrop for this incredible event.”
New additions appearing on Stage Two are Liverpool band, RATS, promising to deliver a scruffy blast of direct and anthemic indie and Overpass from Birmingham, who ended 2021 with four releases, a debut UK headline tour and support slots with the likes of The Wombats, The Fratellis and The Snuts.

Headlining the 3rd June city centre festival, GERRY CINNAMON’s gigs have become folklore – joyous mass fan singalongs inspiring devotion and a dedicated following that has swelled, via word-of-mouth, to epic proportions. The show in Nottingham will be one of only a handful of shows his fans will be able to see him outdoors in the UK in Summer of 2022.
As well as some outstanding, well-known bands at the top end of the running order, there are some amazing young and upcoming talents on show too. Here at LiveWire, we’re really excited to see RATS, four childhood friends who met on the streets of Liverpool but are now destined for arenas. A blast of direct and anthemic indie that’s as infectious as it is heartfelt, the sound of RATS has already seen them burst out of their native Liverpool, with their sizeable ambition lining up the rest of the world in their sights next. Lyrically, RATS take on all of the drama, turmoil, joy and celebration that comes with living in our modern society. The full breadth and power of RATS’ becomes even more evident when on stage, where they’ve been hailed by fans and critics for sounding record-perfect in the live arena, but with a spine-tingling and raw delivery.
Then there is hometown band Catmilk, a 4-piece who balance brooding folk with a hit of nostalgic 90s grunge. A Milne’s lyrics are scattered with thoughtful storytelling, exploring surreal dreamscapes tainted with the grit of a city backdrop. Weaving delicate vocals around stirring melodies and meditative, rolling riffs, Catmilk’s arrangements are reminiscent of bands like Smog, Mazzy Star and Big Thief.
Also on the line up are Overpass, who we saw live at Nottingham’s Bodega only last week supporting SPINN. Their strong melodies, crisp lead lines and youthful vocals have helped the band gain a presence on the active indie music scene. Overpass have built their dedicated fanbase upon a steady stream of praised support slots, playing alongside bands such as The Wombats, The Fratellis and The Snuts. The band have garnered over 2M views across social media, making their singles highly anticipated releases. Tracks 'Stop the Clock' and 'Changes' have gained the band spots in Spotiy's 'Fresh Finds: Rock' and 'Hot New Bands' playlists, the latter receiving Radio X play.
