Green Lung confirm Nottingham date for February 2022

The Taipan Commune have confirmed the date for the re-scheduled visit of Green Lung to Nottingham, as they play at Rough Trade on 26th February 2022 supported by the excellent Old Horn Tooth and Moragn Tong.

Here at LiveWire Music we’re so excited by this opportunity to see one of the best bands on the UK’s heavy underground scene. They released their debut album “Woodland Rites” in 2019 and it is a sensational album, one we listen to on repeat regularly. When I first put the album on, and the title track “Woodland Rites” burst out of the speakers, I was convinced I was listening to early 70’s Black Sabbath. It was that good !

The bands very name Green Lung, harks to the idea of forests and trees being the lungs of the world, recycling and creating oxygen for us all to survive, and the album is rich with pagan and ritual themes. Indeed the band acknowledge books such as Jim Crace’s ‘Harvest’ and British folk horror films such as ‘The Wicker Man’ as influences on it’s style. It really does create the sense of dark foreboding and something sinister lurking in the woods.

Their sound really does hark back to the golden days of dark psychedelic rock, injecting those classic tones and sounds with occult influence.

Personal favourite tracks are “Woodland Rites”, “Let the Devil In” and the brilliant “Templar Dawn”. Their second album “Back Harvest” is scheduled for a 22 October 2021 release and can be pre-ordered through the bands website here: www.greenlung.co.uk/

Ian from the Taipan Commune told us “My good buddy Tyler @ Echelon Talent had offered us the Green Lung date last year as part of their tour and we put together a heavy all-dayer around that in Nottingham called “Doom to Doom’. Sadly that couldn’t go ahead with the pandemic. I think the band have since had to cancel their rescheduled tour twice and were due to do some Europe shows, but their tour in November is looking good now. We’ve all been keeping in contact to try and make a Nottingham date happen. And here it is! Psyche doomers and Taipan favourites Morag Tong are coming up from London together with the mighty Old Horn Tooth to support. We’re looking at a secret local support for this hopefully too. Bringing bands up or down from further afield who might not have had chance to play in Nottingham is a big part of what we’re about so this is a great gig for us. We can’t wait!”
