Mimi Barks / The Bodega / Nottingham

This was a show I didn’t want to miss. I first saw Mimi Barks a couple of years ago, when alongside Priest, she supported CombiChrist at the Rescue Rooms. What a night that was !

First up tonight in support is Raven Gray a US Goth-Rock performer originally from Florida, moving to New York when only 19. This is her first tour outside the US, and she delivered a stunning performance which was haunting and beautiful in equal measure.

Dressed all in black with black raven feathers, she is a striking figure. The music is dark and sensual, and draws on her gothic and faith influences.

Raven Gray is one to watch

Then its time for Mimi Barks to hit the stage. Hailing from Berlin, where she honed her Trap-Metal musical style, before relocating to London in 2019, where she released her debut EP “Enter The Void”. Mimi Barks writes and co-produces all her songs, and infuses them with a hate and anger, and delivers them with her unique style of mixed vocals, skipping seamlessly between rap and metal screams. The end result is an emotional and raw mix backed by powerful beats. Her stunning debut album “Deadgirl” dropped in 2022, and she released released her latest “This is Doom Trap” prior to this tour.

Her performances are packed with energy, which permeates through the audience, and has the house bouncing right from the off.

A stunning set.
