Experimental art-rockers Legss reveal stunning new video
Art-rockers Legss are a band on the rise, described by The Quietus as “Utterly Unhinged” and by DIY as “Biting art-rock”
The London quartet have just revealed a stunning, eerie video for their track Daddy There's Sand In The Sandwiches, taken for the recently released EP “Fester” out now via The State51 Conspiracy.
The video was directed by film-making brother duo The Reids, who had this to say of the process:
“Sandwiches was always an ambitious idea - we pitched it in November and it took nearly 6 months to complete in various stages, but is proof of how it’s possible to pull off big things with a small budget when there’s a shared vision and determination. Everyone in our small crew (basically just us - The Reids - and the band) did everything. Liv was our drill sergeant Exec Producer keeping it on track. The Band played themselves fantastically on screen but also helped build sets and do the final sound design and mix. We produced and directed and edited the film with help from VFX artist Mike Raymond who really elevated the scale of the video and made the vintage Vickers VC10 plane we shot on fly again. And our fantastic cast of Joe, Angus, Dom, Isabella, Angus and Mike brought a sincerity to their parts that really make you connect with the action on screen. It was a true joy of a project and we think you can see it in the final cut.”
The track itself is eerie and haunting, and the film created absolutely captures this essence, it’s a belter and well worth a watch.
“Fester” is a selection of 6 viscerally dark, many-limbed tracks, there is a tragi-romantic narrative that flows through the band's work. Even when leaning into more melodic territory, there’s a pervasive uneasiness that underpins both the vocals and lyrics, and instrumentation. Just when the listener feels they can relax into a moment of musical familiarity, discordant noise-rock stabs jolt - and vocalist Ned Green’s soft soliloquy accelerates to an exasperated yelp.

Legss are Ned Green (vocals/guitar), Louis Grace (drums/samples/production), Jake Martin (bass) and Max Oliver (guitar).
The four-piece take inspiration from a plethora of literary and visual works, and key to the immersive soundscape is the band’s distinctly feverish optical world in which Green’s perturbed protagonists are truly awakened. This narrative aesthetic is reflected sonically by drummer Louis Grace, who co-produced the EP with Balazs Altsach.
It’s an approach that has led to the four-piece being anointed by NPR as part of ‘The Post-Brexit New Wave’ - as the only unsigned band at the time - alongside the likes of Squid, Black Country, New Road and Dry Cleaning. This comes alongside acclaim from Loud & Quiet, The Quietus, The Sunday Times, The Independent, DIY CLASH, So Young, HERO and many more in the music press. Previous radio acclaim has been received from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq,, BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, John Kennedy from Radio X (playlisted) and BBC Introducing London’s Jess Iszatt.
