Grove Street / The Exchange / Bristol

Grove Street / The Exchange / Bristol

A trip to Bristol and of course we had to pop into the amazing Exchange, to take in a show. Tonight we caught Grove Street on their U.K. Crossover Assault tour.

First up on stage are Asidhara, formed in 2019 in Cardiff, South Wales by vocalist Chuck Bradford and guitarist Adam Smith, joined by Evan, Kieran and Will. They offer up a great set of killer hardcore metal, with a fantasy influence on the vocals. It’s heavy, aggressive and high energy from start to finish.

Next up was some heavy thrash crossover delivered courtesy of the South Wests own Overpower. Blending traditional metal, thrash and hardcore they create some incredible brutal ruffs and killer breakdowns. The set was super tight and had the crowd circling the pit.

And headlining are Grove Street. What started out as a joke, over ten years its turned into something very special on the hardcore scene from Sully (vocals), Sandy and Andy (guitar), Joe (bass) and Josh (drums). Grove Street deliver a unique style of crossover hardcore, no hardman persona, just genuine talent and raw energy. Their sound is a mix of influences from the likes of the Beastie Boys and Biohazard, and there’s a hint of the fun style of Slope in there too. An electrifying set from start to finish, the swirling pit didn’t stop once, and by the end of the show, the temperature was off the scale, and everyone went home dripping in sweat and catching their breathe.

The UK hardcore scene is thriving
