Dream Wife release new single "Orbit"

London-based trio Dream Wife – vocalist Rakel Mjöll (she/her), guitarist Alice Go (she/her), bassist Bella Podpadec (they/them) last released an album in 2020 entitled “So When You Gonna…” that smashed into the Official UK Top 20, but it’s an album we go bacvk to time and time again here at LiveWire. So when we heard of the release of their third album “Social Lubrication” due out on 9 June 2023via Lucky Number, we got out quick with our pre-order !

Now, to whet our appetite, Dream Wife have released their latest track ahead of the album launch, and Orbit is out now and available to stream, produced by Alice Go and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Killers, Depeche Mode).

The band explain, “Written through the joy of jamming together and locking into the groove like a multi limbed space age organism, Orbit has a dance rock edge from the early noughties of bands like New Young Pony Club and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Lyrically, it was inspired by post-lockdown London coming back to life and sharing a space through friendship and community. And how each day you never know what’s in store for you or how a stranger can become someone close to you - for a day, a heartbeat, a phase, or a lifetime.”

And there’s more….. as they have also announce a UK/IE tour. The tour kicks off stateside in September for a number of shows before their UK/IE leg in October which includes their biggest London show to date at Electric Brixton. Ahead of the tour they’ll be performing at a number of summer festivals and have just been announced as special guests at Le Tigre’s London show. All dates below and tickets on sale HERE.

“Social Lubrication” showcases a band in electrifying form. An entirely self-written and self-produced album, with the only outside influence being the heavyweight mixing duo of Alan Moulder and Caesar Edmunds (Wet Leg, Beach House), the incendiary and riotous record finds the band once again tackling big subjects in their trademark unapologetic manner where, with the band being adept at merging the political with the playful, vital statements are hidden within hot and heavy anthems about making out, having fun and staying curious.

“Social Lubrication'“ in the band's words, is “Hyper lusty rock and roll with a political punch, exploring the alchemy of attraction, the lust for life, embracing community and calling out the patriarchy. With a healthy dose of playfulness and fun thrown in.”
