Lanterns on the Lake bring their 'Spook the Herd' album tour to Nottingham in September 2020
Newcastle’s own Lanterns On The Lake have recently released their forth studio album “Spook The Herd” to rave reviews. Originally to be supported with a tour in April 2020 this unfortunately had to be cancelled, as with all other musical events because of the Corona Virus outbreak. However the good news is dates have been announced for September / October 2020 and the band start their tour in Nottingham with a venue upgrade from The Bodega to the Rescue Rooms. The band head to town on 14 September.
This is going to be a real treat. Their latest album is leaner than previous outings, simpler but acoustically brilliant fusing beautiful lyrics with excellent tonal ability and subtle backing. Often dark, such as the excellent “Every Atom” about grief and how it takes a long time to come to terms with, searching every atom to find you.
The album has a sense of intimacy. “Swimming Lessons” for example mixes pulsing drum beats with arpeggiated guitar underpinning Hazel Wilde’s beautiful vocal performance. “Secrets and Medicine” weaves piano, celestial guitars and diminished brass in an almost otherworldly mesmerising swirl.
Yet romance is at the heart of the album.
The album is available now to purchase on the bands site here: https://smarturl.it/lotl_spook-the-herd
Support is provided by the excellent Wyldest, formed of singer-songwriter-producer Zoe Mead, multi-instrumentalist Mariin Kallikorm and drummer Jack Gooderham. They draw from many influences including Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, Blonde to Siouxsie and the Banshees, and have honed this to produce their own unique style of pop.
