New single from Exchecker featuring N8 & Bruno Rogers out tomorrow
Out this Friday (3 July 2020), Nottingham-based hip-hop outfit Exchecker release the final single Halcyonaphile from their upcoming Rainchild EP due out on 10 July 2020.
Exchecker have rapidly become one of the hottest rising prospects transcending the barriers of genre and were Future Sound of Nottingham finalists with their collaboration with Nate Watt (‘Hunted’, Channel 4) and NG1 singer-songwriter Bruno Rogers.
I can safely say, and you can tell from our review history that this is somewhere outside our comfort zone at LiveWire Music ! Although not my usual musical genre of choice, I have to admit that Halcyonaphile is very good, and great listening. It combines the best of singer Cameron Chadwick’s flowing style and mixes it so effectively with the catchy melodies of N8 and Rogers. Produced by Sam Oakley the track has a wonderful mellow, laid back feel to it.
As Cameron says “A lot of our biggest tracks touch on this idea of a glorified, half-remembered and intoxicated past, and Halcyonaphile sees me getting to grips with the reality of leaving someone behind”. And it does it really well, the lyrics are well constructed and easy to relate to, and they really get over the sense of a relationship that’s fallen away “Those were the days, and when the time runs out and you’re the one I’m still without”.
I really enjoyed reviewing this, I’ve spent some time playing, and re-playing the single and it’s reminded me that although we all have certain types of music we listen to, every now and then its great to step out of the safety of what we know and try something new. A new experience with great vocals and well constructed lyrics, and slick production. I’ll definitely be playing it again in the morning for sure, and well worth an 8.5 score from LiveWire Music.
